Ewwwww! I hate when I do dumb things like forget about discovered attacks. Cheer up we've all done stuff like that, and probably will do again.

I agree, best way to learn is to make horrible mistakes. I guess that 2.Nf3 is something you wouldn't play again, 2.exd5 and 2.e5 are natural moves.
